Introducing Madison’s Addict Jacket – touted by Madison as “the ultimate riding jacket”.
The Addict is built for riding and for fending off the crappy British weather all whilst – we reckon – looking low-key enough to wear down the pub. Rather than being an ultra-lightweight, packable style jacket, the Addict is a ‘mid weight’ affair. It’s the sort of jacket you’ll wear in cooler or wetter weather and keep on for the whole ride rather than throwing it on and off as you go.
Madison are a British company and you can see that the Addict has been built specifically to cope with British riding. The seams are all fully sealed and the material sports a 12,000mm waterproofing which is plenty for riding in the wet. The chest pockets is also waterproof, meaning no soggy iPhone!
Wearing a jacket for trail riding can be a battle to keep your temperature under control – the Addict looks really promising here and sports 15,000gms breathable material and two massive, zippy chest vents that are designed not to get caught up in hydration-pack straps. There are also silicon highlights on the shoulders to stop bag-straps slipping and a huge, removable hood that’s designed to fit over a helmet. Nice details ….
What do we reckon so far? The nights are getting lighter and the weather is slowly but surely getting warmer … But, sadly, there’s still plenty of jacket-wearing days left to go before the summer kicks in. We reckon the Addict looks like great for the cooler spring weather – not just for riding trails but for commuting and all of your off-the-bike needs as well. At £140 the price is also pretty damn good.
