Our man on the ground, Ollie Hooper, has been testing this Camelbak Volt 13 LR for the last few months, putting it through its paces.
The Volt 13 LR is Camelbak’s super light weight, large capacity pack designed for those days when you have to pack everything but the kitchen sink before adding 3kg of water to the mix. Our man Ollie has been using this pack at any of the enduro races he enters, knowing he’ll not be returning to the pits all day.

The Camelbak Volt 13 LR has to be one of my favourite Hydration Packs I have ridden with in the time I have been riding mountain bikes. The pack is lightweight, comfortable and with lots of pockets, making it perfect for those longer rides when you want to take tools and spares.
The 3 litre fluid storage is placed further down the pack compared to other conventional Camelbaks. As the weight is around your hips instead of on your back, the pack sits more comfortably. This also means when you are weaving in and out of trees and going over jumps the bag wonโt slide up or down your back. The largerย bladder means that for those longer rides you wonโt be getting dehydrated.
Another fantastic feature is the extra pocket in the bag for the bladder. The extra rear entry pocket makes it much easier to load and unload the bladder than in previous Camelbaks. This also means that there is more compartments in the bag for extra storage and keeping things more organised.
I have been using this bag forย racing various enduro series. I am usually out for the whole day and it is necessary to take spares and lots of food to keep myself fuelledย throughout the day. The many compartments are idealย for keeping everything organised so you don’t spend ages faffing around on the trail trying to find that tool which you remembered putting in.
The outer layer pocket is perfect for fitting clothing, like a small water proof or knee pads if you like to take them off on a climb. As well as this the Volt includes helmet clips on the outside of the bag if you like to strap your full face onto your bag or a chin.
The Camelbak Volt also includes straps which fasten around your hips to keep the bag from sliding up and down your back. On the hip straps are small pockets which are perfect size for a multi tool or some small snacks for a quick bite to eat on a climb.
OVERVIEW:
The Camelbak Volt 13 LR is perfect for those longer rides when you need to take lots of food and spares. If you were going out for an hour or so pedal this might not be the bag for you. The back compartment for the bladder is a game changer in mountain bike hydration packs making it much easier to change your water and keeping everything else much more organised and spaced out.
