Rachel Atherton was on the sidelines at this weekend’s World Cup at Fort William.
Rach took a dive in practice and ended up watching the action in a sling from the top of the GoPro truck.
What we didn’t know at the time was that Rachel crashed in the infamous muddy woods and dislocated her shoulder. She was helped by a mystery rider to relocate her shoulder so she could get off the hill and get proper first aid.
Rachel appealed on Instagram for the mystery rider’s name so she could say thanks…
The crash also appeared in the Atherton Diaries, which launched today:
In true internet style, Rach’s Insta fans discovered the rider and made sure she knew who he was. The mysterious rider was none other than Australian Jack O’Hare – who was racing himself on board a Canfield Jedi.
Jack also captured Rach’s crash, which looks gnarly
Rach comments on Jack’s insta:
“Oh good lord!!!! Hey jack, thanks for helping me out dude, I was just like “fuck we need to do this quick before I panic!” Thanks doctor!”
Jack’s first aid helped Rachel get down off the hill with minimum damage to her shoulder and – whilst she had to miss the race – could get away without significant hospital time. What a hero!
