Phil Atwill just rode Leogang World Cup track on a hardtail

This is a pretty interesting one. Dirt team rider Phil Atwill just rode Leogang World Cup track on a hardtail. Phil’s instagram says:

Phil was dared by Wyn Masters in his track walk video to give it a go and – not wanting to turn down a wager – dropped in for a run on his Propain hardtail.

Whilst Phil’s run is a cool story of gnarly riding, it’s also a protest to the santised track that has been put on this weekend. Riders have always been pretty critical of Leogang, saying that it’s too much like a bike park and lacking in decent, technical sections. This year’s track seems to be even worse with even more high speed, straight section and even less steep, technical, natural sections.

On track yesterday Sam Dale spoke out saying that he’d rather ride down a whole track of Fort William Woods or even a grass field than down the track they’d be given to ride …

We’re looking forward to seeing how opinions go after today’s qualie session. If the top guys that are putting in the fastest times are speaking out … it might just be time for a change.
