Friday Mixtapes | Ali Clarkson.

We asked our favourite riders what tunes get them in the mood to slap a turn, get creative or simply put a smile on their face.

Music is a very personal thing, different songs do different things to different folks. We hope that some of our favourite riders’ top tunes get your creative juices flowing, or psyche you up to go rally some trails.

Second in this series is trials supremo and vlogger extraodinaire, Mr Ali Clarkson.

If you’re not familiar with Ali’s work, you can check out our interview with the man himself here.

Pink Floyd – Echos.

This song has everything, chilled, intense and psychedelic, I can listen to this track at any time and in any mood and always enjoy it.

Dead Meadow – Indian Bones.

I listen to this when I want to be taken away to a distant planet floating through the cosmos, no drink or drugs needed for this trip.

Black Angels – Currency.

Moody and atmospheric, sticking it up to the man.

Opeth – Wreath.

I’m not the biggest metalhead but I love this track by Opeth, it gets me pumped up for any situation, the guitar sound is awesome and the track flows flawlessly…a great way to get accustomed to heavier metal.

Tame Impala – Half Full Glass Of Wine.

Tame Impala have an amazing sound, this track has one of the best riffs of any track I’ve heard, the live version is even better, one of those tracks you never get bored of!

Saracen Bike Sale Leader April 25

Black Sabbath – War Pigs.

The opening guitar, Ozzy’s first lyrics…goosebumps every time! A powerful song in every sense.

British Expeditionary Force: A Long Way From Home.

This band only made one album but oh boy what a corker. They combine chilled sounds with fast paced drum machines to create a unique sound which both chills me out and get’s me pumped up at the same time, I wish they made more.

Black Angels – Mission District.

The second Black Angels song on my list (I would’ve put more if I could), I have this as one of my favourite songs of all time, the slow start, the build up and the intense climax, I picture it as an unstoppable impending doom travelling towards me, the anticipation builds as the song does and then you’re left to pick up the pieces in the second half. This is one of those tracks that has to be played on full volume, you can’t go too loud with this one!

Radiohead – Sit Down Stand Up.

Not everyone’s first choice of Radiohead tracks but in a similar vein to Mission District I love how this song starts off chilled but with a sense of foreboding, building as it goes, more layers being added and heading towards an inevitable crescendo. I could’ve picked a whole list of Radiohead songs but I particularly like this one and feel it’s often overlooked.

Ultimate Spinach – Visions Of Your Reality.

Another track from the 70s, Ultimate Spinach were short lived but gave us some great tracks, this one has a real nostalgic feel and reminds me of summer happiness, 8mm videos and no worries…it chills me out like not many can.
