Industry Whips | Hannah Barnes’ 2021 Specialized Stumpjumper S-Works.

Everyone knows racers get custom kit to make their bike special but we’re looking at some non-racer custom builds in Industry Whips.

One of the best things about working in the cycle industry is adding those extra special touches to your pride and joy, or even a full custom build that’s got some one-off bits that makes it stand out.

We’re also diving into the geeky setups that make the bike ride just the way their owners want them to.

Up this week is Hannah Barnes’ 2021 Specialized Stumjumper S-Works.

Frame

I run a medium, Forest Green, S-Works Specialized Stumpjumper – 29er, with SWAT door integration, flip chip head tube/bb adjustment, and130mm travel. This is the ultimate trail bike. It climbs well, is super light, descending it is fast, fun, playful, and can handle just about anything. Whether it’s a big mountain adventure with monster climbs, or laps of the woods, this is my go-to ‘do it all’ trail bike.

Suspension

The forks are a Fox Float 34 Factory with 140mm travel, with 25% sag, one air token and whatever Fox recommend for my weight, which is about 60psi and feels good to me. I like my suspension to feel plush and responsive
Out back I run a Fox Float DPS Factory, with sag at around 30%.

Drivetrain

HT Components T1s all the way, with SRAM Eagle XX1 AXS. This is a really slick new set-up. Having a clean cock-pit with no cables is really nice. The battery lasts forever, it shifts really nicely, and the sound of the shifting is damn cool too. A fancy SRAM XX1, 12 speed chain and a standard 30 tooth chainring.

Brakes

SRAM G2 Ultimate, 4 piston caliper, front and rear; 200mm front, 180mm rear rotor, organic pads, with limited lever throw and bite point close to the bar.

Wheels

Roval Control 240 wheels with Specialized Butcher, GRID casing, GRIPTON compound, 29×2.3 on both.

Cockpit

I like a 740mm bar width and run the FACT Carbon Specialized bar with a 27mm rise, and Supacaz Diamond Kush Grips. Currently running a 50mm stem but will swap it to a 40mm soon.

Lounge area

The new RockShox Reverb AXS dropper with a Specialized Women’s S-Works Power with MIMIC, 143mm. I love this saddle, and run it on all my bikes.

Cool custom sh*t

My bike is a stock S-Works build. It’s perfect and awesome in every way. This bike has nothing ‘stand-out’ or different about it that I can think of. It is absolutely my ‘go to’ trail bike which feels at home on every trail, climb or descent, thrown at it. I also love the racing green colour with the slight shimmer in the paint. It’s a very cool bike on every level.
