Orange take the Alpine 6 template and give it the Evo treatment as well as a drizzle of their ‘less is more’ philosophy to create the Alpine Evo.
Less travel but more reach, a slacker head angle and more progressive rear end make the Alpine Evo distinct from the Alpine 6.
As with anything Orange Mountain Bikes, this Alpine Evo starts with the 60661-T6 monocoque alloy frame. What makes the Evo different to the Alpine 6 is the lower pivot, that offers a more neutral and progressive suspension feel. You get 155mm travel too, building on Orange’s ‘less is more’ philosophy. That is mated to a 160mm fork.
The rear triangle features a new asymmetric design that offers better stiffness and rigidity. The pivot is also offset to give a better chainline. The bottle mount sits just ahead of the BB and there is an accessory mount on the underside of the top tube. Cable routing is fully internal.
All Alpine Evo frames are made in Halifax and come with a five year warranty, backed up by a crash replacement scheme.
Orange are offering a limited edition LE model of the Alpine Evo ahead of the launch of the full range. One colour is available, again, limited edition pearlescent Stealth Green. This is priced at £5,900.00 with bikes in shops now.
Geometry

The Alpine Evo sees the geometry tailored to a shorter offset fork and the lower travel numbers. Small, Medium, Large and XLarge sizes are available.
On the Medium Alpine Evo you get a roomy reach of 476mm combined with a 431mm seat tube. Head tube angle is slack at 63 degrees, with the seat tube angle at 76 degrees. Chainstays are fixed across the sizes at 445mm and the wheelbase on the Medium is 1258mm.
