Hope have released three new brakes that have evolutions of their outgoing designs to produce the EVO GR4, EVO TR4 and EVO X2 anchors.
Evolution not revolution is the order of the day with the new Hope EVO line of brakes. Power and control remain key, but with improved feel, fit and service all getting updated.
The cats in Barnoldswick have been busy making some of the most potent anchors available just that bit better. The Tech4 V4s on Pete’s Hope HB916 test bike were so good that it changed the way he rode trails. Now, both the master cylinder and caliper get a refresh with some key improvements to feel, fit and serviceability.
A new cam mechanism in the lever preserves the feel and modulation whilst doing away with most of the free stroke which is combined with three lever blade options. These had their genesis in some custom lever blades for the man, the myth, the legend that is Joe Barnes. One lever blade (Standard) will come fitted as stock, the Control and Power blades are available aftermarket. These levers are for further fine tuning the feel dependent on how far you run your levers from the bar, have an increased hook at the blade end and a different texture for more control.
Inside the lever, a secondary guide bush and sliding guide aims to provide smooth lever action through the full lever travel. A new master cylinder bleed port allows bleeding without the need to remove the master cylinder top cap.
At the other end of the brake, the calipers have been tuned for greater stiffness, better compatibility, and streamlined profiles. The bore caps have been redesigned to reduce width and improve fit across modern frame geometries.
