Support Your Local Bike Race. Big Things Start Small

Support Your Local Bike Race (SYLBR) is an initiative to help community organizers fund grassroots racing and events with the simple act of selling t-shirts.

It works like this: OneUp provides organizers with shirts for free, organizers sell the shirts and keep the funds generated to cover the costs associated with their event. No strings attached.

All riding associations looking for funding opportunities for local events are encouraged to apply. While the initiative uses the word “race”, all types and disciplines of community cycling events are eligible.

How does it work?

OneUp provides local organizers with high quality t-shirts for free. Organizers sell them to raise money to fund their event. Riding communities thrive.

Step 4: Communities enjoy more racing and events

All riding associations that organize local bike races and events are eligible to get t-shirts from SYLBR.

From now until the end of 2025, we have 200 shirts to send out. If sold for $40 each, that’s $8,000 in potential money raised for community riding events this year. For 2026, we hope to send out 500 shirts. That could be $20,000 going directly into grassroots racing and community events.

We will be reviewing applications and sending out shirts once a month. So please be patient as it may take up to 30 days to receive a confirmation if your application was successful. We use premium, heavyweight cotton shirts that are printed in Vancouver.

To apply, complete the SYLBR Application Form.

Why SYLBR?

Recreational races and events give riders a fun, healthy way to get together, improve their riding skills and create lasting connections with fellow riders. Whether you’re riding, volunteering, trail building or barbecuing, getting involved with local events and organizations brings riding communities together.

But they also cost money.

We created Support Your Local Bike Race to help community organizers get more riders together more often. Our local association, the Squamish Offroad Cycling Association, was the pilot organization for SYLBR and they’ve already raised hundreds of dollars selling shirts at $40 each.

“Hosting community bike races isn’t easy; it’s expensive and time-consuming! OneUp’s SYLBR T-shirt initiative gives our non-profit trail association a simple, impactful way to raise funds, helping us cover race costs and reinvest more money into the trails we all love.”Ian Lowe, Executive Director of SORCA

Is this part of the OneUp 1% Giveback?

No. Support Your Local Bike Race is a separate initiative to the OneUp 1% Giveback Program. OneUp will continue to donate 1% off all revenue to environmental groups, bike charities and mountain bike trail associations. Forever.
