Bike Check: Laurie Greenland’s Nukeproof Pulse pre-season bike

So here it is, Wideopenmag rider Laurie Greenland’s Nukeproof Pulse. Photo’d at Combe Sydenham yesterday.

Laurie joined the team slightly later in the season than we’d planned … so missed out on the first shipment of complete bikes. Luckily, Hotlines (Nukeproof distributor) had a frame that fitted him so he was able to build this up until his race bike arrives. He’ll be racing a complete Pulse in black and yellow once the new bike lands.

Laurie has got the bike built up with Nukeproof’s bar, stem, seat post, seat and wheel-set, a Cane Creek Double Barrel shock, Boxxer World Cup air fork and Conti Tyres (Der Kaiser Projects show here). Laurie runs his suspension “hard and fast” he reckons!

Amazingly – this is Laurie’s first proper downhill bike. He’s not the biggest unit on the race scene so has ridden short travel bikes up to now – he rode an Orange Patriot in 2012. Despite that, he hopped straight on the Pulse back in February and was smashing laps of our Welsh test track without a second’s bother. He’s won two races since then so seems to be gelling with the bike just fine!
