The new Stanton Switchback is available for preorder

We’ve made no secret of the fact that we bloody love Stanton Bikes here at Wideopenmag – Dan’s bikes are quite simply some of the best hard tails around and are an absolute blast to ride.

We’re stoked to see the newest Stanton whip now available to preorder – the Switchback:

We’ve had a titanium Slackline on long-test test for a while now … and we’re damn excited to see the new Stanton Switchback is finally available to preorder. The Switchback is the next generation Stanton – similar to a Slackline but with 650b wheels (the Slack’ is 26″) and with a really fun, slack 64˚ head angle for nailing trails.  If it rides as well as the Slackline it’s set to be one hell of a bike!

Here’s the official blurb from Stanton:

“We are now taking preorders for the highly anticipated Stanton Switchback! RRP is £550 we are currently taking preorders/deposits of 50% to secure your frame, the other 50% will be requested before delivery. ETA for the frames is May/June! Let the Hardtail revolution commence!

The Switchback is our secret weapon! It has been in development for the last 2 years and has been designed for those of us who like to ride trail centres with friends and get wild on the the Black Runs, then go race Gravity Enduro’s and Mini DH on the weekends.

The Switchback shares its tube set with its 26” wheeled brother the Slackline. A double butted Reynolds 631 main tube set and Head tube cupeled with Reynolds 525 seat and chain stays makes for a tough forgiving frame.

The Tube-set is not the only thing the Switchback shares with the Slackline, it also has a strong geometric influence. The Cockpit, bottom bracket hight and chain stay length are all taken from the Slackline and adapted to suit the 650B (27.5) wheel, retaining the snap, acceleration and berm hugging cornering people have come to know and love from Stanton bikes frames.

However the Switchback gains its independence not only in wheel size but its super slack head angle, at 64˚ static (65.75˚ in the sag) with a 140mm fork this frame will have you ripping through the toughest and steepest technical terrain with ease!

There’s only 50 being made in the first batch, 12/13 of each colour and size, if you want one you can preorder through the site or pay in full.
