Troy Lee Designs have been the name to beat in MTB protection for a long time now – I’ve fond memories of all my D2’s (not so fond memories of the crashes that ruined them) so when they offered to send over an A1 to test, well you’d be mad to say no?
We’ve actually got a couple of the new colourways here, the Turbo Matte Black seen above and the Turbo Matte Gray seen below. If you prefer something a little more understated they also have a plain matte gray, matte black/green and red. There is also gloss orange, matte blue or the shiny gold flake edition!
Tech wise it’s as you’d expect – a polycarb shell moulded with an EPS liner to cover your head, especially the back which some XC lids just don’t protect. Eight vents at the front feed eight exhausts at the rear to draw the warm air out and away.
The liner inside is removable and washable to aid the dreaded helmet stink and the neat little TLD badges and ano’d alu hardware just adds to the quality feel.
Looks wise – it’s going to be tough to beat. Full review very soon! RRP in the UK is £129.99, for more info visit www.troyleedesigns.com
