After a weekend at the British Downhill Series we trucked over to Innerleithen to check out the aftermath of the Enduro World Series. We rolled in to town to catch the Tweed Love Dual Slalom – which was pretty much a who’s who of mountain bike racing in itself.
The track was a short, fast, loose blast – flat corners up top, a stream splash into huge berms, a triple whoop set, more flat corners and a brutal stall wall to finish. The trick seemed to be to stay upright out of the whoops and then send the stall wall into the stratosphere, landing in the berm and powering across the line. The difference between the top boys and everyone else was pretty insane!
The big dogs were Ruaridh Cunningham, Taylor Vernon, our lad Mark Scott, US rider Graham Pitts and Harry Heath with local hero (and track builder!) Ruaridh taking the win with some amazingly smooth riding. Mark got knocked out by Baz (Harry Heath) by .2 of a second and made 4th place, showing no sign of having raced 5 days straight at the Enduro World Series! Props to Graham Pitts who was doing a damn fine job of keeping up with the fast boys on his Zerode downhill bike.
An awesome wee event – cheers to Tweed Love for making it happen! Time to go ride Glentress!
