Rich T’s Windham World Cup Track Walk

Our man Rich Thomas is in Windham for the World Cup! Here’s his track walk straight from the mountain!

Windham has been a popular destination for the World Cup in the past; however, having missed out on the rooster for 2013 it’s back for 2014 and is looking awesome. The track is known to be shorter than others on the circuit but full of natural terrain, big speeds, jumps and rocks.

The start is new this year with a short 10 second wooded section leading out onto where the start in the past used to be. The track then enters the top woods in the original spot and follows a similar or exact like as before.

After the top woods you blast out onto the piste on a tighter line than previous years but still pinned and into the woods in the same place as before and into some awesome hero turns before getting into the steep rocks.

Getting through this clean is hard but the rocks spit you out into the pin ball section with some decent sized jumps and high speeds taking you into the bottom sections where it is all about carrying speed.

Here you need to keep her rolling and smash your way through the big rock gardens and out onto the last piste.

The Finish is exactly the same as years past, drop into the arena and hit some decent sized jumps again and a big sprint and your home, an intense but short run. The race is going to be a tight one!!

All in all the track is looking incredible and I’m sure everybody will have the same opinion, roll on practice tomorrow. So that’s it, the weather is top banana right now but looking like it could get wild throughout the week.
