It’s a new year and a new season of racing!

2016 sees Team Wideopenmag welcome a new mechanic to the family…

We love racing here at Wideopenmag. It’s in our blood and Team Wideopenmag is our way of scratching the racing itch. Our team puts us at the heart of British mountain biking and to help the UK’s race scene keeps growing from the strength to strength.

Behind every great team is a great mechanic … and we’ve got two with a brand new face joining the fold to work with our downhill riders.

For 2016 we’ll be joined by (drum roll please) … Mr James “Dru” Farrow.

Dru is from Cornwall and has well over 10 years of experience as a mechanic and racer. He’s worked at Halfords and Clive Mitchell Cycles in Truro and has also been racing since 2010 with some pretty solid results under the banner of the West Coast MTB / Velotive team. He’s raced loads of Tavi Winter series events and has done two years at the British Downhill Series, which is our bread and butter.

We chose Dru because he’s got great spannering experience and because he loves racing. He’s been in the start gate himself so he knows exactly what our riders need and he knows the BDS well. Most importantly he seems like a bloody nice chap that we’ll enjoy riding, racing and travelling with. We’re looking forward to getting him on board for BDS round 1!

MASSIVE thanks to everyone that shared our post looking for a mechanic and to the guys that put themselves forward. Literally everyone who we heard from was a great candidate and would have been awesome to work with.
