The first round of the British Enduro Series is over and it was cold, wet and a complete mud bath! Stanton Bikes, sponsors of the hardtail category, bring us their round up of the BES opener.
What happens when the winter doesn’t let go of the race venue for the first round of the year? Grin and bear it, as so many did at the British Enduro Series opener a few weeks back. Join Dan Stanton in the slop of a field in Dumfries and Galloway for more.
Here’s how the event unfolded from the Stanton Bikes easy up:
Well the first round of the BES is done! It was cold, wet and a complete mud bath! it was one of the most gruelling weekends I’ve experienced in a long time and I wasn’t even riding!
Thankfully the riders remained more positive than I did and regardless of the conditions they made the most of it and enjoyed shredding the Ti Switchback’s and Sherpa around some of the best countryside Dumfries has to offer!
Unfortunately our new Easy-up didn’t turn up which was in one respect a shame, however pretty much everyone had ‘battened down the hatches’ and no one was walking around perusing the offerings of the easy-up village.
Due to the weather we were unable to get any riding footage as we simply couldn’t risk the camera equipment getting damaged, however we did manage to catch some of my ‘in the trenches’ mood and a little of what happened when the sun briefly showed itself. We also managed to get a moment with Si Paton the events organiser.
We said we’d make a little edit of our experience at each British Enduro and so although its not full of hard tail shredding etc. it is a real depiction of what a difficult weekend the weather gave us.
The next round is in Afan on the 7/8th of May. We’re hoping you guys can make it! We’ll be there with a few demo bikes if you fancy taking one for a spin and we’ll have a bunch of frames for you to look at.
