Another year and another big trip north…
Another year and another big trip north to Fort William for Team Wideopenmag to race the British Downhill Series. If you add up the travel time for the whole team to get to the Fort and back it reaches something like 170+hours on the road … for a single race!
Why do we do it? Because the Fort is bloody brilliant, that’s why. Epic track, epic scenery and an epic road trip to a beautiful part of the UK. And – it’s the #1 place to go if you’ve got your sights set on World Cup racing.
So – another year and another big trip north. Once again, it was worth every penny of fuel money and every minute in the van.
Kye Forte stole the show with a 1st place in the Expert category. He’s stepped up from masters and is absolutely hauling. Charlie Hatton used the weekend as a warm up for the World Cup and scored 3rd in the tough as hell junior field – just behind Matt Walker and Fin Illes. Rich Thomas waded in to the World Cup-class elite category and landed 38th place. That field was absolutely loaded with big guns. Last but not least, Morgan Tyrrell, our new young gun had an unlucky run and punctured in finals. He was pretty gutted … but his 7th place in seeding showed he’s got what it takes.
Thanks to co-team manager Dave, mechanics Ryan and Dru, video chimp Luke and of course to Ian Lean for the photo bangers. Great weekend and another great British Downhill Series race!
