Dean Lucas’ Prototype Intense 29er Spied in Fort William.

Intense produced a 29er DH bike years ago but it seemed the industry wasn’t ready. Fast forward to 2017 and they’re back at it.

Pete popped by the Intense Factory Racing pits to have a nosey around Dean Lucas’ prototype 29er. Hand built in the Temecula facility, this Intense prototype comes complete with crash test dummy stickers. A fair cry from the smooth, slick carbon effort from The Big S.

29″ wheels, all-alloy, Intense’s version of the virtual pivot and a concentric lower pivot all adds up to quite the beast. The latest incarnation of Intense’s 29″ DH machine is being put to the test here in Scotland.
No messing about here. Proper welds all done by Jeff Steber in-house in Temecula, and getting some granite paste added to its complexion.
Concentric bottom pivot with a linkage beneath the bottom bracket gets the virtual pivot arrangement and performance Intense are looking for.
Did we say this is a prototype?
Testing! Dean Lucas’ proto World Cup ride comes with the crash test dummy markers. Let’s hope this doesn’t mean he’ll be coming a cropper this weekend.
It’s all in the details. Aussie pinner Dean Lucas gets his own wheel stickers.
