Founder and Creative Director at Flare Clothing Company, Hannah Myers, has been shortlisted for the HSBC Forward Ladies 2017 National Awards. Impressively Hannah, who launched Flare just 4 years ago, has been shortlisted in both the Young Entrepreneur and the International categories, doubling her chance of winning.

The Awards bring together start-ups, multi-million pound businesses, academics and international business leaders in a celebration of their success. Hannah is one of 35 entrepreneurial ladies who will compete across 11 categories. Forward Ladies Managing Director Griselda Togobo said on announcing the Midlands region short list, “The calibre of entries has been increasing year on year, but this year we have a number of outstanding entries and here at Forward Ladies we very much look forward to celebrating and sharing their success.”

The Flare story started back in 2012 when Hannah realised that she couldn’t buy the type of clothing she wanted to ride in. Mid way through her Masters Degree her attention focussed on meeting that gap in the market and hence Flare was born. As a passionate Mountain Biker Hannah has been able to use her personal experiences to create first a women’s, then a men’s range, that is functional and funky.

Hannah has won awards in the past for her product design, but getting acknowledgement for her personal achievements has really surprised the young designer, “I’m really overwhelmed to have made the regional finals of these awards. To be shortlisted with all of these other exceptional women is really flattering. I can’t wait to meet them and hear their stories,” commented Hannah. “Just making the shortlist feels like winning!”

The regional final takes place this Friday (29th September) at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. If Hannah wins her regional category she will be invited alongside the other regions’ winners to appear before a live panel of judges in November culminating in the National Awards Ceremony in Leeds on December 1st.
