Big news race heads – the 2018 British Enduro Championships will be held in the Tweed Valley.
Today’s big news is that there won’t just be a 2018 Enduro Championships but that it’ll be held in the Tweed Valley up in Scotland on the 9th and 10th June 2018.
The race will be organised by Hillside Events, the guys behind the excellent Tweedlove mountain bike festival and Triple Crown Enduro Series with Whyte Bikes as the headline sponsor.
And it’ll be part of Tweedlove
Naturally, as the Tweedlove organisers, the race is being timed alongside the Tweedlove Festival. If you’re taking part you won’t just get to race but you’ll also get all the good stuff that goes with it – a good old Scottish knees up, demos from great brands, loads of side events and other rides to enjoy if your legs can take it.
The organisers are putting up some good fighting talk to promise an event worthy of the Championship name:
“We want this annual race to be a pinnacle of the UK enduro calendar, so that’s how we’ll approach the production of it,” .
“The event is timed to coincide with the big TweedLove bike festival weekend, so it’s going to be a real celebration of trail riding in what we believe is the spiritual home of UK enduro.
We’re keen to help build the reputation of a race which represents top rung racing in British MTB’s most popular discipline, so it should provide a real test and challenge for riders, in a friendly spirit, and on some of these islands’ best trails.”
And we’re getting a rolling tour of the UK
Today’s announcement breaks another big piece of news. The Enduro Championships will now move around the UK Nations, taking a turn in each to give racers a full taste of British trails.
“The British Enduro Mountain Bike Association organisers have agreed the race will move around the ‘home nations’ annually, giving different venues and organisers the opportunity to showcase their trails and race production” says Neil.
Entries aren’t quite open yet …but as soon as they’re out we’ll let you guys know!
