My Favourite Photos of the Year : Ian Lean.

Ian Lean’s top photos of 2017.

A photographer takes thousands of images in a year… and we’ve asked a few of our regular photographers to pick their top photos from 2017.

First up was Pete Scullion, our web editor. Second out of the blocks was Szymon Nieborak, followed by Innes Graham.

Fourth in line is Mr. Ian Lean, the man who’s been shooting for us for what seems like forever. Our man at the British Downhill Series delivering the goods. You can catch his work on Pinkbike and the BBC.

Here’s Ian lean’s top photos of 2017:

Antoine Bizet, the guy who supposedly was this years athlete to get “robbed” at Rampage. Casually double flipping the fun jumps at the bottom, not sure Rampage and casual could be used in one sentence but yeah…
Keswick Kestrel (Adam Brayton) would’ve definitely needed his wings to slow down! This section at Fort William is so pinned, but Brayton can pin it and keep it steezy.
The only World Cup I managed to get to this year, the level of riding always amazes me, and a world cup without a shot of Brendog stylin’ is unheard of… So here’s one I made earlier!
I’ve spent a lot of time with Conor Macfarlane this year, one of the nicest dudes on the MTB scene! We came back from Loosefest where we had good weather to a very soggy Wales, who would have thought?
This was my first time to Utah and experience of the infamous ‘King Kong’, what a gnarly place to photograph let alone ride! Just like the Rampage site, a fall either side and you’re in for a rough ride!
Some you may know this dude… Its Jeff Herb, you might know the name from Fest Series! The dude kills it! Was nice seeing him back riding, he’s taken time out from the big stuff due to a gnarly crash competing in Rampage a few years ago and needing numerous operations which have been complicated.
Wouldn’t be a top 10 without a shot of Wideopenmag’s own Joel Anderson would it! Doesn’t matter what the conditions are like, this kid is wild. Joel is the kind of rider which gets any photographer amped, he’s willing to try anything and get loose as fuck!
All round legend butt. Wheeliewednesday’s Nikki Whiles! Oh yeah, and if you haven’t been to check out Tirpentwys Trails yet, make sure you do, respect and enjoy the radness.
Don’t think she needs any introduction… Tahnee had to be included, personally she has the sickest style out there, I guess that’s what happens when you have a rad brother and BF!
This little rat might need an introduction… His name is Tom ‘Sketchy’ Isted, he’s a BMX park kid who saw the light an decided to dabble in some big bikes haha! Nah he shreds as you can see here, but don’t ask him to rail a berm… Actually ask him to do it in front of you if you ever see him, its quite fun!
