Lewis Bradley is a South Wales-based pinner, photographer and film maker who Wideopenmag are happy to welcome to the editorial team for 2018.
Mr. Lewis Bradley will be testing bikes and kit throughout the year as well as producing features from his exploits at races and adventures throughout the year.
We grilled Lewis to see what he’s got planned for 2018.
Who is Lewis Bradley?
I’m from South Wales and don’t spend much time being lazy! I’m a uni student who is trying to live the dream of riding his bike, playing rugby with the lads, strumming my guitar and film making to earn the dollar to travel around the UK!
How would you sum up your 2017?
It was pretty amazing to be fair! I had some great race results, managed to ride some cool trails in the UK and France and meet new people! I also managed to start up my video blogs so I can share my experiences to people who may not have the chance or are thinking of going somewhere!
This is your first year on Wideopenmag, what are you most looking forward to?
Probably the chilled-out atmosphere, I love creating content while riding. I know all the guys who work, test ride and race for the team. Meaning that I will get along with them easily while making videos or blogs while trying to keep up with them while racing!
What kind of stuff do you like riding?
Tough question! I love to stick to my ‘roots’ when it comes to type of terrain. Natural and steep has always been my forte style of riding because I grew up around Afan. But saying that, I’m not afraid to hit the jumps at the bike park stuff in the Alps.
What’s your favourite place to ride?
If we are talking in the UK, you will never take me away from my local trails of Afan. It has the perfect mixture of trail centre and natural trails. Oh, and also has a small bikepark and 4x track. It’s great to catch up with mates from the past and watching new faces… I also met Morgan Tyrrell and Daniel Cope there when they were little rippers!
What was the highlight of your 2017?
Probably coming 37th overall in the Megavalanche, from taking the holeshot in quali and then making the 2nd row in the main race, to battling it out with the top guys off the start! The music will get to you if you don’t stay composed! 2nd overall in the Welsh Enduro Champs was also pretty good too!
Any disasters?
Only one, it was the EWS Qualifier/Welsh Champs. I was leading going into the final stage and my bash guard broke and my chain came off. It was the worst feeling I have felt since racing my bike!
What will you being doing for Wideopenmag this year?
I will be involved in various things this year! From testing products such as bike and clothing to videos and photoshoots with the boys! Oh, and trying to race in the elite category.
What are your plans for 2018?
I will be racing in the elite category this year. I will be at all the UKGE, Welsh Gravity Enduro events and also racing the Megavalanche once again with the Wideopenmag Crew! I will also be doing an ‘Alps Road Trippin’ documentary over the summer in my Transit van!
What are you most looking forward to next year?
Probably the ‘Alps Road Trippin’ Documentary, I have been wanting to do this for ages! If you want to be involved, please let me know!
Any pleases and thank yous?
Firstly, it has to be my parents. It’s a struggle earning money in uni and they have funded me a lot over the past 2 years! Big thanks to everyone who has supported me up to this point in my riding career and to everyone who has given me the opportunity to film/photoshoot races and events!
It’s going to be a great 2018!
