Brook MacDonald breaks collar bone at Losinj World Cup

The weekend’s World Cup at Losinj, Croatia didn’t go to plan for Brook MacDonald.

In the aftermath of the race it looks like Brook’s massive crash in finals ended with a broken collar bone.

Brook’s weekend started well. He qualified fastest by over a second and then went into finals looking strong for his second World Cup win.

Bad news for Brook though, he went down in his final run taking a dive over the bars on the same section that claimed Claudio Caluori whilst filming the course preview.

Brook’s instagram confirmed today that he suffered some damage on the crash, taking home a broken collar bone and some broken ribs.

The Fort William World Cup will be the next big race on Brook’s calendar on the 2nd June. That’s 39 days from now. With recovery times for a broken collar bone usually at 6-8 weeks there’s a chance he could be back for the Fort, but it’ll be close. Elite athletes can do amazing things so there’s no reason to count him out.

A message to Wideopen from team-mate Laurie Greenland sounds positive “he should be back before long, it’s all in the right place”.
