Alpinestars’ MTB Trail Attack Heads to Hamsterley on July 22nd.

Alpinestars’ unique race format returns to Hamsterley Forest on July 22nd for the enduro-eliminator MTB Trail Attack.

Two hundred riders get four hours to set their best time on three of Hamsterley Forest’s best trails. That field gets whittled down to 100 after that, with the fastest going through to the final.

The Alpinestars MTB Trail Attack features a unique, Formula 1 qualifying-style format, where the fastest riders advance to the next round until a winner emerges.

Taking place at Hamsterley Forest, County Durham, on July 22nd, the Alpinestars MTB Trail Attack is a unique event that is celebrating its second year.

The format is very much like that of Formula 1 qualifying, with a cut off per round for those to advance through to the next round, and ultimately the finals. Heats start with 200 riders given four hours to set what they feel is their fastest time down Transmission, Accelerator and Nitrous trails.

After that four hours, the field gets cut in two, with the clocks reset and the 100 remaining riders battling to make the cut for the finals over 90 minutes. Then, the fastest 32 riders will compete again for the title of Alpinestars Trail Attack Champion.

Course Preview

As you can see from the course preview, the trails are all graded and predominantly trail centre-style trails. The average gradient for the event is 7%, so don’t expect any hectic do-or-die sections.

The trails should give everyone from those new to racing to the seasoned professionals the chance to go as fast a they can to try and make the cut for the following heat. There’s also no fresh sections meaning anyone who wants to go and see what the trails are like in advance will be able to find them easily.

Just remember, if you make the last 32, you will have sprinted these trails 12 times, so make sure you’ve done some training before you rock up in July.

Entries are £28.00 plus a processing fee, which can be bought over on the Results Base page here.
