Eagle-eyed readers will have spotted Brendan Fairclough and various other riders rocking three stripes over the last few weeks.
Yep, you’re right, there’s a new Troy Lee Designs Adidas mountain bike collection and you’re now able to run the Brendog vs RunDMC look on the trails.
Adidas seem to pop up all over the place these days. Just as we’re all getting used to seeing their names appear on the insides of our FiveTen shoes they suddenly pop on the gnarly slopes of Nevada, carving lines with Brendan Fairclough.
And yep, that’s right, there’s now a Troy Lee Designs Adidas Ultra collab. The two brands have teamed up to create a complete set of mountain bike kit, including the TLD/ Adidas Ultra MTB pants, the TLD / Adidas Ultra MTB Shorts and two Ultra MTB jerseys with long and short sleeves available. There’s also gloves and an Adidas Troy Lee Designs A2 helmet.
The new gear falls into the Ultra family, which is designed to be race-focused, high performance, slim-fit and light weight. Troy’s website provides a cautionary “Athletic Fit-Only” sizing guide so, be prepared for tight and skinny fit throughout.
The kit has been developed by Troy Lee and the Adidas Futures Lab and is lightweight, breathable and airy. There are lazer cut vent-holes all over the place and no flappy material to cost you elite athletes precious seconds.
The gear also features “intelligent thermoregulation” using HeiQ Smart Temp fabric. That means the fabric is able to react to your skin temperature. When it hits 30°c it activates to regulate your temperature and help you cool down. There’s loads of info here on the HeiQ website.
The race pants looked like a real highlight and were a far cry from those heavy, bulky moto pants of old. They’re light-weight, look super cool and comfy, are a skinny cut and are also mountain bike specific.
Our sneak-peak at the kit also revealed an Adidas rocking Troy Lee Designs A2 helmet. In this case, this looks just to be another graphics option.
