You might be as surprised as us, and maybe even as much as your two fastest Elite riders in the Maribor World Cup qualifiers.
Rain affected play as soon as the Elite women’s runs started for the Maribor World Cup qualifiers but racing is racing and you still need to be the fastest down the hill. Thibaut Daprela’s winning run was some thirteen seconds faster than Mark Wallace’s.
Canyon Factory Racing’s Mark Wallace pulled a blinder and was the fastest man in the Maribor World Cup qualifiers, sitting two seconds clear of firm favourite Aaron Gwin.
In the ladies, Tracy Hannah proved that she’s still on the pace by winning qualifying with a similar margin on Rachel Atherton. With the rain in full effect for Elites, Vali Holl’s Junior qualifying winning run would have put her a gnat’s whisker ahead of Rachel Atherton were she in the big leagues.
Commencal/Vallnord’s Thibaut Daprela picked up where he left off last year with another blinder of a run ahead of Ethan Shandro and Kye A’Hern.
