This weekend was the first big UK downhill race of the year, the HSBC UK National Downhill Series at Rheola in South Wales.
With a packed field, the first round of the HSBC UK British National Downhill Series was a tough one to call. Gee Atherton, Danny Hart, Matt Walker, Adam Brayton were all on the start sheet and joined by a heap of other fast racers including Brendan Fairclough, Charlie Hatton, Jack Reading, Laurie Greenland and more.
For the ladies, it’s always a little less of a lottery but with Rachel, Tahnee and Katy Curd on the sheet and a gnarly, unpredictable track there was no room for mistakes.
The men’s race looked like Gee might take it after a strong practice day. Then seeding saw Matt Walker take the top spot, throwing that prediction out.
