Peaty’s Steel City Downhill had its ninth event in Grenoside Woods with yet another sunny day and some of the best crowds and racing out there.
You can easily see from the highlights video why Peaty’s Steel City Downhill is known as the biggest little race out there. Few races sell out as fast or have a throng of bike mad spectators along simply for the love of bikes.
The Steel City Downhill exemplifies Sheffield’s riding scene, where everyone turns out to support events like this, whether you’re turning wheels on dirt or not.
Yet again, the race was blessed with sunny skies and with the track receiving some attention ahead of the event, times were tight. The Jump of Death still provided plenty of carnage though… You’ll wince when you see that opening crash…
Marc Beaumont would pip the big dog Steve Peat to the post by a mere 1.2 seconds, with Luke Knight coming in third. Chloe Taylor would see off EWS and downhill champ Tracy Moseley to take the Elite ladies’ win.
