For those long travel e-bikes, Specialized have given the Kenevo some serious tweaks that should make it a beast on the trails.
The Specialized Kenevo gets more than just the longer, slower, slacker treatment, with an updated axle path, lower weight, better components and 180mm travel at both ends.
There will be two models of the Specizlized Kenevo available in the UK, the Kenevo Comp at £4,999.00 and the Kenevo Expert at £6,999.00.
Rather than simply update the Kenevo, Specialized had three main goals with the 2020 model that mark it as very different from the outgoing one.
Range extension as well as more confident handling as well as an ability to chew up serious terrain were what Specialized were after with the new Kenevo.
Thanks to sharing motors and batteries with the Levo, the Expert model, with its 700wh battery sees a claimed 40% jump in range, while the 500wh in the Comp sees a more modest 8% jump. The 700wh can be fitted to both bikes.
While the frame is quite a bit lighter (2.2 pounds/1 kilogram) the move to more reliable and burly components sees the all up weights remain the same.
A new axle path sees the opening portion of the travel move in a more rearward direction in a similar manner to the new Enduro frame, aiming to get out of the way of those bumps and maintain speed through rougher sections.
Head angle rakes out to 64 degrees with the 180mm Rockshox BoXXer fitted. The seat tube has been steepened to 77 degrees and clipped across the range to accommodate longer droppers. Reach on the medium is a healthy 470mm.
