Vitus have re-written the rulebook on how much you should pay for a dialled full suspension bike with their new Mythique range.
The new Vitus Mythique looks on paper to be the bargain range to really try and steal the crown that Calibre Bikes have held onto for the last few years.
Three bikes complete the range, available in both 27.5″ and 29″ wheels and starting from £1249.99 direct from Chain Reaction Cycles and Wiggle.
The Mythique sports a familiar layout to anyone that knows their way around a Vitus with its four bar linkage and hydroformed top tubes.
Delivering 140mm travel regardless of whether you’ve opted for 27.5 or 29″ wheels without the active lower link of the Sommet and Escarpe models above it.
Taking lessons learned from outgoing bikes in the Vitus range, the Mythique has a consistent 21% progression rate, aimed at giving supple suspension at the top of the stroke, mid-range support and bottom out resistance. Low anti-rise keeps the rear wheel active under braking combined with a high anti-rise to at the sag point for excellent climbing efficiency.
On the medium Mythique, you get a 444.35mm reach, a 433mm seat tube, 66 degree head angle and a 75.73 degree seat angle. Interestingly, angles change slightly with the different frame sizes, Small, Medium, Large and XLarge being available.
A women’s version of the Mythique VR is available, in the form of the VRW. Spec remains the same but come with narrower bars and a shorter stem.
