Starling Cycles announce a new mullet bike in the form of the Twist as well as moving front triangle production back to the UK.
Essentially the love child of the existing Starling Cycles portfolio, the Twist takes parts from both the Murmur and the Swoop to produce a mullet bike. The arrival of the Twist also heralds a move back to UK-produced front triangles.
- UK-made Reynolds 853 front triangle
- ORA Engineering-built rear triangle
- 29″ front, 27.5″ rear wheel
- Customisable 160mm rear travel
- 170mm maximum fork travel
- Boost rear axle
- £1,770.00 frame (no shock)
The Starling Cycles Twist takes the genetics of its older brothers to create a mullet bike with a UK-crafted front triangle sporting 160mm rear wheel travel.
There’s in-built customisation with the new Twist, with shorter travel option available, as well as custom full builds and frame colours.
Starting at £1,770.00 for a base colour (dark grey front, black rear) with no shock, you can add a shock, a full build, custom colours and other custom tweaks to make it your own. Full builds start at £3,785.00. Shock options start at an additional £200.00 for a DVO Topaz, rising to £875.00 for an EXT Storia. Rockshox and Ohlins options sit in the middle.
A sliding shock mount will set you back £100 on top of the frame price. Custom colours are an extra £125.00.
With a 65 degree head angle, a 77 degree seat angle and a 450mm reach on the medium size, there’s plenty modern enough geometry to make the Twist a riot when things get lively on the trail.
Shorter travel options will drop the BB, steep the seat and head angle but not do a massive deal of difference to the reach.
