Propain Launch An All-Alloy Spindrift in Three Wheel Sizes.

After releasing the carbon fibre version of their long travel machine, the Spindrift, Propain have now launched an alloy frame to complete the set.

Designed as a freeride and long travel enduro machine, the Propain Spindrift AL offers a cheaper alternative to the carbon offerings that were released earlier in the year. You get three specs to choose from each coming in 27.5″, 29″ and Mullet options.

Propain’s Spindrift sits between the World Cup proven Rage downhill bike and the Tyee enduro bike, offering a longer travel enduro option or just a big-hitting freeride bike. Fork travel is 190/180mm depending on your chosen model, and 180mm travel out the back.

The all-alloy version is new and available immediately, with three different aluminium alloys making up the new Spindrift AL chassis. Three build options are available, the base model ‘Start’, the mid-range ‘Performance’ and the ‘High End’ topping the range. Claimed weights are between 35 and 36.5lbs.

While there is three pre-set build options available, Propain’s customisation tool allows you to pick almost an unending combination of parts with the upgrade or downgrade prices in plain sight. You can easily therefore select a shorter dropper, a different fork or shock, pretty much anything but base it off one of the pre-set builds. A near full customisation is also possible, even down to the decal colour.

With three different wheelsizes, you will get three different sets of numbers, but crucially, the head tube and effective seat tube angles remain fixed, so all you’re left to do is pick the right size. The 27.5″ bike comes in S to L, while the 29″ and Mullet options run from M to XL.

On the Medium 27.5″ Spindrift, you get a 450mm reach combined with a 440mm seat tube. Head tube angle is 64.5, with a suitably steep 78.5 degree seat tube angle. Chainstays are at 435mm through the sizes, and the medium has a wheelbase of 1216mm.

Reach and seat tube on the 29er are the same at 450mm and 440mm respectively. As are head tube and effective seat tube. Wheelbase bumps out to 1234mm with a 445mm chainstay.

Wheelbase and chainstay length change on the Mullet, with a 435mm chainstay giving a 1225mm wheelbase.
