The second annual Freedom Ride returns on 3rd & 4th of July at Rogate Bike Park.
The Freedom Ride began life during an episode of The Lockdown Companion podcast series hosted by Olly Wilkins and The HKT Podcast’s Davi Birks. The initial idea was to create a day where people could get together to celebrate post lockdown, ride bikes with friends old and new, share good vibes and our mutual love for mountain biking.
After the success of last year’s event Olly and Davi have decided to bring the event back, this time for two days and with some impressive event partners including Focus Bikes, DMR, SAXX, SixSixOne and HKT plus more to be announced.
“Last year we started out with a single day event which surpassed all our expectations. It was insane to get some many awesome people together in one spot. This year we’ve taken the plunge and gone for a double header. The longer term plan is to have two separate events next year (North & South) and then three the following year (North, South & Scotland). The attendance numbers will be limited on both days to 150 riders (20 of those being VIP’s and pros) to adhere to any COVID restrictions and prevent things getting too big too quick.” Davi Birks
The Freedom Ride daily schedule includes:
- Ben Deakin’s Real Deal MTB Jumble Sale. Got some swag to sell? Bring it with you, pop the trunk and have a walk around to see what other people have got. We heavily encourage cheap prices and swaps.
- A range of demo bikes available from Focus
Focus Bikes will be on-hand with a range of demo bikes for attendees to try - The opportunity to rip party laps with the pros. Ride with likes of Olly Wilkins, Grant Fielder, Sam Reynolds and Ben Deakin plus more
- The SixSixOne whip-off with prizes from SixSixOne
- Best edit competition. Create and submit an edit after the event to be in with a chance of winning a GoPro HERO9.
