Take a cursory glance at the Starling Spur and you’ll see what is mostly a familiar Starling silhouette. Those slim Reynolds 853 tubes giving it a distinct look. There’s more to the Spur though. Building on the high pivot experience gained with the creation of the Staer and Spurn, the Spur comes with the addition of an Effigear 9speed gearbox.

The aim of the gearbox and high single pivot is to make the rear suspension as good as it can be. The low weight of the rear wheel reduces the unsprung mass, while the high pivot further reduces impacts on suspension forces.

Combine with that 29″ wheels with 170mm travel and you have what is likely to be a ferociously capable descender. The 440% range on the 9speed Effigear gearbox, actuated by a thumb trigger, should give you the winching capability to get you back to the top as well.

As usual, frames are available with no shock for £3,330.00. Shocks start at £195.00, with full build kits available on request. Frames are available in Medium, Large and XLarge. Pre-orders are being taken with a 16 week lead time.

Geometry

As above, the Starling Cycles Spur is available in three sizes, Medium, Large and XLarge.

Reach on the Large Spur is 475mm with a seat tube of 440mm. A 64 degree head angle is combined with a suitably steep 77 degree seat tube angle.
