Team Alpecin Fenix took to social media to announce that their star rider, Mathieu Van Der Poel, will miss the 2021 UCI XCO World Championships in Val di Sole this weekend.
It’s unknown as to whether or not the reported back pain has anything to do with Dutchman’s high profile crash at the Olympics or not.
Neither the Dutchman nor Tom Pidcock will compete at this year’s World Championships, despite the latter taking the Olympic XCO title in Japan.
