Over the summer months, Ben has been running RaceFace’s Getta Grip grips to find out if they’ve found the secret to the perfect grip or not.
They may not be the most exciting product out there, but you need grips on your bike and good grips will make the difference between many good rides and a few crap ones. Ben has been finding out what side of the line the RaceFace Getta Grip grips land on.

The aptly named Getta Grip grips from Race Face feature a single clamp design that is available in one of 5 anodised colours along with further options for coloured rubber with a black clamp. Available in 30mm or 33mm width, I opted for the 33mmโ greater girth for my relatively large hands, despite the fact that I usually ride thinner grips.
Fitting is super easy and the clamp and grip body were totally secure throughout the test period when fitted to both carbon and alloy bars. The edge of the rubber grip is subtly angled so that if you nudge a tree it should glide off instead of stopping you and causing a crash. It is a nice touch, but I run my hands over the end of the grip so itโs not much use to me, but for some riders it might help a bit.
I liked Race Faceโs secret, sticky rubber compound and despite the pattern being quite shallow I did feel like the directional hexagons on the grip body aided me in finding a comfy position for my hands and fingers, even without gloves.
When things got rough and rowdy I felt like there was a good amount of cushioning, although I did find the larger diameter grip a bit more tiring and would have preferred the thinner option. After a good amount of use this summer there is very little sign of wear on the rubber, and I am confident that these will last a long time despite how sticky they feel.
What do we think?
These are great looking grips that can match any build, and with good all round performance they are certainly worth considering the next time you need a fresh set of grips. It is worth going to your local stockist to try both sizes though.
We Love:
- Lots of colours
- Rubber is a blend of grip and longevity
Could Do Better:
- I should have asked for 30mm
