The latest in a long line of very successful hubs, the Pro5 hubs from Hope Technology have seen no stone unturned in the latest design.

With a new labyrinth seal combined with a redesigned pawl and spring mechanism, Hope claim to have achieved their main goal of drag reduction in the drive mechanism of the new Pro5 when compared to the Pro4. On top of this, Hope reckon the durability and load capacity has also increased. A bold claim if it’s true.

Engagement points also jump from 44 to 108 thanks to that pawl and spring setup being made up of an offset six-pawl design where three pawls are engaged at any one time. You’ll also notice the hub shell design is different, and this was done to make the hub stiffer, likely for ever-widening rear axles, without actually making the hub any heavier.

The hub is full serviceable, takes all major freehub designs (XD, Microspline and Hyperglide) and has easily changeable end caps to suit most bikes and drivetrains. Hubs are available in 6-bolt and Centrelock and there is an ebike specific hub available too.
