The Big S aren’t mucking about with bike launches in 2024 and proof of that is their latest offering, the their second generation Status.
With M5 alloy frames that sport a Stumpjumper 15 silhouette, 170mm travel and Mullet wheels means the Status 2 is all action.
Hot off the back of the Epic 8, Epic 8 Evo and Stumpjumper 15 launches is the Status 2. Like its predecessor, the focus here is providing a bike that is simple and durable whilst also providing an engaging ride. Particular attention has been paid to suspension and brakes.
The heart of the Status is the M5 alloy frame that offers up 170mm travel. You can get this travel shod with either a more pedal-friendly spec or go for the DH model for more fork travel from a triple clamp and a 7-speed DH drive. Mullet wheels are the only option here.
A slack head tube angle at 64 degrees stock can be dropped to 63.5 via the flip chip, with also changes seat tube angle, BB drop and reach. Two bikes are available, the Status 170 2 and the Status 170 DH 2. These come in at ยฃ3,000.00 and ยฃ3,500.00 respectively. Specialized have also launched a 140mm travel Status 2 and Zero sizing for riders under 5 foot tall but they won’t be available in the UK.

The Status 170 is available in S1 to S5.
Reach on the S3 is with the flip chip in Low is 470mm with a seat tube of 420mm. Head angle in low is 63.5 degrees with a seat tube angle of 77 degrees. Chainstays are 432mm with a wheelbase on the S3 of 1250mm.
