In their 2025 pre-calendar of major mountain bike events, the UCI tallies 10 downhill plus 8 cross country and enduro World Cup weekend possibilities.
As we understand it, the UCI’s provisional World Cup schedule lays out the weekends where World Cups could take place.
If they follow this schedule then downhill events will grow from the seven of 2024 to ten, enduro grows by one, cross country stays the same and ebike enduro is conspicuous in its absence
If the 2025 UCI pre-calendar does go ahead as below, then XCO will kick things off in early April outside of Europe again, perhaps with a return to back to back races in Brazil. The season finishes at the 2025 World Champs in Switzerland six months later in Switzerland.
Downhill gets going a month later in early May in Europe with another nine events between then and World Champs just five months later at World Champs. The downhillers will be busy as six of these events are in two sets of triple back-to-back weekends.
Enduro has its opening round in mid-May remaining rounds leading up all the way through to Worlds. There’s a couple of back to back weekends, but they’re spread out. Same amount of races as cross country but one less month to get them done.
EDR-E is not mentioned. Could we be seeing a closer focus on technical regulations around batteries, motors, output etc.?
We hope to see more rounds announced outside of Europe for all disciplines, places like Mont Saint Anne are part of the woodwork now and has outlasted Freecaster, Rocky Roads, COVID and Red Bull in World Cup terms. Snowshoe has done a great job as a season finale, and it would be awesome to maybe run the shoulder season races somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere too. Rotorua, Maydena even?
As a pre-calendar, this is all likely subject to change and has perhaps changed already.
