After launching at the start of October, Endura’s Autumn/Winter collection has seen near-constant use in the mixed weather we’ve been enjoying as the days shorten. One of the highlights of the collection for us is this mustard yellow MT500 Polartec jacket.

As the name suggests, this member of the MT500 family comes with a Polartec liner, with stretch woven panels on the outer to see off wind and spray. A drop hem stops you getting slop in your pants and the hood is designed to fit over your head, but under your helmet. There’s plenty of pockets too.

Fit in size small for my 5′ 4″, 58kg frame was spot on and there was an immediate feeling of coziness when I put it on for the first time. It’s rare that something fits me well, but the MT500 Polartec Jacket does just that. The hand pockets are large and warm, plus the chest pocket is ideal for a phone or keys.

Since then, it’s rare not to be wearing it, only the washing machine and the drying rack allow it any breaks. This extends beyond riding too. During the milder weather at the start of autumn it would be my chosen outer layer pretty much anywhere off the bike, then when we got a cold, dry snap, it was my go-to for a riding outer layer when the ground was frozen solid.

Whilst it is only several weeks since I have had it, the MT500 Polartec has stood up to multiple runs through the washing machine and riding in all sorts of weathers and looks pretty much brand new. It hasn’t had to deal with brambles and gorse but then most winter kit doesn’t.

What do we think?

Endura’s MT500 Polartec Jacket does exactly what it says on the tin. It also comes in a range of colours and the mustard really does it for me. It’s so good I might well pay my own money for another.

We love:

  • Snug fit
  • Warm, light layer
  • Looks great

Could do better:

  • We can’t think of anything
