Santa Cruz have launched an updated Bullitt with the same suspension layout as the Vala, 170mm travel, full power Bosch motor and a 600Wh battery.
We know what you’re thinking… 600Wh battery on a full power ebike? The Santa Cruz Bullitt is designed for peak handling; where a larger, heavier battery is counterproductive. Mullet wheels, 170mm travel, proportional geometry, 4-bar linkage plus an optional 250Wh range extender.
The all-new Sana Cruz Bullitt is touted as a ‘downhill bike with a built in chairlift”. Hopefully it’s not as wind-affected as Scottish ski lifts… In any case, it’s a 170mm travel, MX wheeled, carbon fibre only ebike powered by a Bosch Performance Line CX with 85Nm torque motor fed by a 600Wh battery.
A smaller battery was chosen after testing batteries up to 1000Wh and the extra range came with the major downside of increased weight, especially at the front of the bike. A 600Wh battery was chosen to make the best balance between handling and range. A fixed battery also means less weight required to strengthen the frame when cutting a window for removal, and the 600Wh battery is a kilo lighter than an 800Wh unit.
Again, like the Vala, the Bullitt uses a four-bar link rather than VPP to better package the motor, battery and suspension platform. Rear wheel travel is 170mm. Flip chips also allow independent adjustment for both BB height and suspension progression.
Four Bullitts will be available, one CC and three C builds. The range-topping Bullitt CC XO AXS RSV comes in at £9,999.00, the Bullitt C GX AXS at £8,599.00, with the two lower models sporting the new SRAM mechanical T-type groupsets. The Bullitt C 90 at £7,699.00 and the Bullitt C 70 at £6,799.00.
Geometry
The Bullitt is available in SM for the first time, along with MD, LG, XL and XXL sizes.
Reach on the M is Lo is 456mm with a seat tube of 400mm. Head tube angle is 63.3 degrees with an effective seat tube angle of 78.4 degrees. Chainstays on the MD are 444mm with a wheelbase of 1253mm.
