As part of their wider ‘Do The Ride Thing’ campaign, Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland have released specific ebike guidance to inform new and existing users.
Ebikes are ace and allow us to go further or bang out more laps, what’s not to like? Many riders will find ebikes are their gateway drug to a life of mountain biking, and there’s plenty to consider.
Getting further faster can get inexperienced or unprepared riders into remote and/or mountainous terrain where issues can quickly compound. Heavy, powerful ebikes also have a greater effect on sensitive ecosystems and trails not designed for bikes.
