DMBinS Launch Rider and Business Surveys to Inform Their 2026-2036 Strategy.

Riders, businesses and related services are invited to have their say in shaping the Scottish MTB strategy for the coming decade in new DMBinS surveys.

Scotland’s mountain biking riding and business community is being called upon to help shape the future of the sport as work begins to develop a new national mountain bike strategy from 2026–2036.

If you want to have a say in the direction of Scottish national mountain bike strategy in the coming decade then have your say in the latest surveys from Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland.

You can answer the DMBinS Rider Survey here and the Business Survey here.

Two new surveys—one for riders and one for mountain bike-related businesses—have been launched to gather views, experiences and ambitions from across the sector. Insights gathered will play a critical role in informing the next 10-year Scottish Mountain Biking Strategy, ensuring it reflects the priorities, challenges and opportunities facing the riding and business community.

The strategy will be developed by the Scottish Mountain Bike Consortium, a forum whose members include Scottish Government; land manager, nature protection, and owner bodies – Forestry and Land Scotland, Nature Scotland, and Scottish Land & Estates; tourism agencies – Visit Scotland and EventScotland; enterprise agencies – Highlands and Islands Enterprise and South of Scotland Enterprise, and all the cycling organisations in Scotland.

Colin Slater, the independent chair of the MTB Consortium, said: “We want the next strategy to be bold, inclusive and rooted in the needs of the people and businesses that make up our vibrant mountain biking scene. Whether you ride for fun, for health, for adventure—or run a business in the sector—we need your voice to help shape where we go next.”

The Rider Survey is open to anyone who mountain bikes in Scotland, from weekend riders and the MTB curious to elite athletes and adventure seekers. LINK TO SURVEY.

The Business Survey targets companies and organisations involved in coaching, guiding, retail, events, trail building, tourism, product development, and other related services. LINK TO SURVEY

Both surveys are open until 4th August 2025.

The 2026–2036 strategy will build on the strong foundations of previous strategies and aims to position Scotland as a global leader in sustainable, accessible and innovative mountain biking development.
