The FNY Collective to Host Ridonkulous Big Bike Night.

Intended to empower women and girls to choose active travel for their every day travel, the FNY Collective Ridonkulous Big Bike Night heads to Hawick on Saturday 14th March.

If you are a female human and want to upskill yourself to make riding a bike instead of using a car or public transport, then the FNY Collective’s Ridonkulous Big Bike Night is for you.

On Saturday 14th March, the historic Auld Baths in Hawick will be transformed into a vibrant arena for RIDONKULOUS, a Big Bike Night specifically designed to empower women and girls to choose active travel for their everyday journeys.

This joint initiative between The FNY Collective and Scottish Borders Council (SBC) aims to tackle the specific barriers from handling mechanical issues to building bike confidence to encourage more women and girls to walk, wheel, and cycle within their local community.

Delivered in partnership with youth engagement specialists Missadventures, the event is designed to be a radical takeover that is both fun and inclusive. Organisers expect a turnout of over 100 women and girls, creating a vibrant atmosphere where everyone, whether you ride or not, can get stuck in.

The Big Bike Night Lineup Includes:

Saracen Myst Leader Dec 25
  • The Skills Arena: Indoor ramps, skinnies, and balance features. All bikes are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own!
  • The Puncture Pit: A fast-paced, head-to-head maintenance challenge to build essential trail-side and roadside repair skills.
  • The Creative Zone: Hands-on workshops for decorating display bikes and creating tool-based art.
  • The Social Pit-Stop: A massive “Active Travel” social featuring locally sourced pizza, ice cream, and custom-made bike cupcakes.

Aneela McKenna, Co-Founder of The FNY Collective (2025 Community Project of the Year), said:

“We are bringing a festival energy to the Auld Baths to show that active travel is for everyone. Whether you are cycling to school, the shops, or work, we want to provide the skills and the community support to make that journey possible. With over 100 women and girls expected to join us, this night is about reclaiming our space on the move and having a ‘RIDONKULOUS amount of fun doing it.”

Councillor Jenny Linehan, Executive Member for Environment, Sustainability and Transport Spokesperson for Scottish Borders Council added:

“This partnership is a key part of our commitment to making active travel the natural choice for everyday journeys in Hawick. By breaking down barriers in a fun, no-pressure environment, we are helping to build a healthier, more connected, and sustainable community.”
