DYFI BIKE PARK UNLOCKS A NEW CHAPTER WITH THE EXTENSION OF ITS UPPER MOUNTAIN
Dyfi Bike Park has announced the first phase of a wider EMTB expansion, opening a new network of upper mountain trails that extends the riding experience beyond the existing uplift-served terrain.
Launching on Saturday 8 August, the new routes have been designed around the capabilities of modern EMTBs, allowing riders to continue climbing beyond the uplift drop-off and unlock terrain that has previously remained out of reach.
Rather than replacing uplift, the new trails build on it.
The uplift continues to carry riders through the majority of the elevation, before the EMTB unlocks the final climb to a series of longer, quieter and more natural descents. From there, riders can link back into their favourite sections of the existing bike park or continue into a full top-to-bottom run.

For Dyfi founder Dan Atherton, it is a vision that has been years in the making.
“We’ve looked at the upper mountain for years and always knew there was something special up there. The challenge was finding a way to make it accessible without losing what makes the terrain so good.
“Modern EMTBs have given us that opportunity. They don’t replace uplift, they extend it. The trucks still do most of the work, but the bike unlocks the rest of the mountain and gives riders a completely different way to experience Dyfi.”
The upper mountain features a more natural style of trail than much of the existing bike park, opening up quieter terrain and longer laps while remaining connected to Dyfi’s established network.
Riders can climb to the summit, complete laps of the upper trails, link into classic Dyfi descents or ride the mountain from top to bottom. The result is more choice, more time on the bike and a new way to put together a day at the park.
The opening represents Phase One of Dyfi’s longer-term EMTB plans.
A future second phase will introduce purpose-built climbing trails within the park, allowing riders to pedal between and unlock more of their favourite sections of Dyfi without returning to the uplift after every run. Further trail development and new ways of linking the mountain are also being explored.

Dan continued:
“This is only the first phase. The upper mountain gives people an initial glimpse of what’s possible, but there is much more of Dyfi still to unlock.
“The next step is to look at dedicated climbs within the park, so riders can link together the sections they enjoy most and create their own laps. There’s a huge amount of potential across the mountain, and this is just the beginning.”
To celebrate the opening, Dyfi Bike Park will host an Après event on Saturday 8 August, with riders invited to experience the new trails before an evening of barbecue, music and perhaps a beer or two.
For now, riders will still need to book an uplift pass to access the mountain before completing the final climb to the new upper trails under pedal power.
A climbing route from the bottom of the park forms part of the longer-term vision but is not yet open.
