Who wants a sneak first look at a brand new all mountain bike from Empire?
There haven’t been many bikes that have spawned as much forum banter as the Empire AP1. So – when our roving reporter Duncan fired over some shots of a brand new protoype all mountain ride from the Empire team we couldn’t help but get a bit excited.
Dunc met up with the Empire boys down at Caersws where they were showing off the bikes and letting the kids do a few demo runs.
The new bike (name TBC) has got 150mm travel and is designed around a 140/150mm fork. It’s single pivot with an air shock and weighs in at about 30lbs.
This one was the first prototype so the front and rear triangles were machined in the UK from solid aluminum billet. The front triangle took 28 hours of machining time alone! Production bikes will be cast just like the AP-1.
If you want to see the bike up close, pop down to the Cycle show at Earls Court at the weekend. Otherwise, hit up empire-cycles.com.
Thanks to Dunc for shooting these over. Nice one mate!
