TSG might not always be the first name that springs to mind when you’re cruising for a new helmet – but they do in fact produce some of the best value and most stylish helmets in the game.
Proving that you don’t need to break the bank to get a quality helmet is the ‘Staten‘ … a £100ish full face helmet that’s style and substance both punch well above the price.
The Staten sports a fibreglass shell and EPS impact foam which (TSG say) means “good penetration resistance and energy distribution”. The peak is replaceable, you can remove and wash the pads to avoid helmet-pong and there’s 11 vents to keep the air flowing. Keeping the Staten secure is a plastic clasp – which is our only slight disappointment – we’d prefer to see the double D buckle of the 2012 model kept on board.
So far so good – for £109.99 the Staten looks like a great helmet. Stay tuned for more on the Staten once we’ve had a proper ride.
