The Wideopenmag team were treated to 12 hours at home before hitting the road again for the world Cup Final. The track walk is done and here’s a wet and cold Rich T reporting in!
So we’ve arrived here in Austria. I haven’t riden here for a few years but have fond memories of the track and town. I remember parts of the track being pretty gnarly and there being some decent sized gaps so with it being the final round I’ve had a boner all week.
We headed out to check this years track out after sign on and overall she looks decent. It’s a lot easier that I remember but with some awkward new bits thrown in.
How’s it looking then? Off the start it’s rough but flows nicely. It’s very man made but nicely technical at the same time with lots of fast, rough corners.
After that, there’s a fast bike-park section into the first woods where there are a few new lines and it looks good. From there you break out into the fast jumps and traverse around the hill which looks fast this year and then into the bottom woods with some new awkward sections and a new big rock garden which will be interesting in the wet.
From here down it is pinned into the finish using the old line from last year’s World Champs!
The weather is bad but set to improve, fingers crossed as it is damn cold at the moment!
So we shall see how things develop over the next few days. Keep your eyes pealed for some pictures and helmet cam footage!
Cheers
