2014 isn’t even here yet and already our team riders are well into winter training ready to assault the world circuit. Enduro specialist Mark Scott has been putting in the miles to get that edge over the rest of the field.
Since joining the Wideopen team we managed to have a little team get together at RoostDH out in Spain. I was buzzing to get out there and meet the guys properly and do a bit of solid riding on the new bike. It was sunshine and dust all week and lots of good times were had and everything felt like it fell into place nicely! RoostDH guys were amazing as always and the edit of our week does it more justice than my words, check it out:
I wanted to get back to Spain for a mini-training camp just for myself so at the start of December I managed to find some cheap flights out to sunny Malaga to get a head start on some early base training for 2014. This was different to any other trip out here I’d ever done as I’d only packed my road bike! My plan was just to get in plenty of long rides and start to build my fitness for the up coming season, having trained here in previous years I knew some of the roads already and was keen to do a bit of exploring myself and see what the mountains had to offer.
The roads did not disappoint, coming across endless smooth, quiet roads in the hills just outside of Malaga although motivation is a lot easier to come by when you are training out here and I actually enjoyed getting out all day on my road bike!
As I am typing this I have almost come to the end of the 2 week block, nearly 1000kms down, a couple of days in the gym, not one drop of rain and one hell of a roadie tan to take back to Scotland! All in all, a success and time to get back riding my Nukeproof. It’s not long until the next trip to Madeira at the start of January and this time with proper bikes, tough life eh?!
Thanks to Jacob Gibbins/Aspect Media for the delicious photo!
