Wow – what a week. We’re just back from the Fort William World Cup where we spent a week road tripping andย launched our brand new issue!
We met loads of you guys, we handed out hundreds of copies of issue 23 and – maybe the highlight? – Peaty got to crack open the first box and check out his cover shot.
The new issue was a bit of hard-won battle. We pulled out the stops in the run up to the race and (for probably the first time ever) had to meet a tight deadline. We ordered the mags to be delivered to Fort William and expected them to arrive on Thursday afternoon. But – we got a call on Thursday to say the magazines were over a hundred miles away in Dundee and wouldn’t reach us till Monday. Getting them the day after the race wasn’t an option so me and Jim had to jump in the van and road trip 6 hours to Dundee and back to get them. We weighed up getting a man with van, tried to round up a mate to do a delivery, looked for another courier but in the end we decided we just had to make it happen and hit the road.

Despite all the faff we got the mags on time and they went down super well today at the World Cup. We handed out over 2000 copiesย and met loads of cool people who all loved the magazine. That was definitely the highlight of the week. Great to meet you guys!

What else was good? Well … We raced the Ae Forest British Downhill Series race, we went for a ride with Team Wideopenmag’s Enduro pinner Mark Scott, we finally got to stay in photographer Ian Linton’s B&B and sample Mrs L’s massive fryups … and we managed to get Tim Lake to shoot 3 awesome videosย of the World Cup action, focussing on the British racers. As you can imagine there was a lot of other stuff that you don’t need to be bored with. It was a hell of a week.
